Update the Ixolate plugin

Move an Ixolate box that runs an older plugin release to the current one, including boxes that still point at a lab repository.

The Ixolate plugin (os-theme-ixolate) carries the branding, the Updates & License page and the repository configuration. It is updated like any other package and normally needs no attention: System › Updates & License › Check for updates lists it together with everything else.

Normal case

Either use the page above, or from a root shell:

pkg update -r ixolate
pkg upgrade -y os-theme-ixolate

Branding is re-applied automatically after the package installs and after every operating-system update.

Check the result:

pkg query %v os-theme-ixolate
grep url: /usr/local/etc/pkg/repos/ixolate.conf

The URL must read https://repo.ixolate.com/ixolate/all.

Boxes on plugin 4.15 or older

Releases up to 4.15 shipped with the repository address of the 8Labs lab network instead of the public domain. Such a box cannot see newer releases from outside that network, so the first update has to be pulled directly:

pkg add -f https://repo.ixolate.com/ixolate/all/os-theme-ixolate.pkg
pkg update -r ixolate

After this one-time step the repository file points at the public domain and the normal case applies. The -f reinstalls even if pkg believes the same version is present.

After an operating-system series jump

When support moves a box to a new series (for example 26.1 → 26.7), the theme is rebuilt from the new core during the first boot. Run the plugin update once afterwards so the plugin itself is current:

pkg update -r ixolate && pkg upgrade -y os-theme-ixolate
